Overrepresentation of English Learners in Special Education Amid the COVID-19 Pandemic

The continued concern of English Learners (ELs) being overrepresented in special education coupled with the 2020 global COVID-19 pandemic that urged educators to ramp up online instruction, has left deliver instruction ELs via e-learning. This issue is further exacerbated by students United States (U.S.) continuing lag behind their peers other countries foreign language capabilities. U.S. can gain valuable insights from when it comes boosting vocabulary acquisition skills ELs, as learning new key for develop proficiency. review eight international studies indicated following effective strategies (VAS) feasible instructing learners e-learning: (1) using native teach English; (2) Content Language Integrated Learning; (3) designing culturally relevant activities both first and second language; (4) pre teaching multimodally explicit word strategies; (5) use multimedia; (6) promoting self-regulation. A Self-Regulated Multimedia Cognitive Learning Model implement VAS amid a time enhanced virtual also introduced.
